Long ago in the land now referred to as Agon, a Mahirim and Orkish
tribe warred with each other for many years. The battles often raged
on for months on end. Many times the battles spilled into the both
the Mahirim and Ork villages. During these periods the children would
abandon the villages for the solace of the woods. War would never
reach the children there. A young Ork named Berackus, and a Mahirim
named Kaldiad, would often use the time of war as an escape to play
together. Though, the adults of each clan would have forbid it.
During one particularly bloody battle, the boys now more young men
than boys meet up at the edge of the woods. For some reason on this
day they decided not to play, but to watch the battle that was about
to take place. As the Mahirim and Orks clashed together a large explosion
erupted in the center of battle. Fireballs then began to rain down
from the sky, and then the men dressed in bright, decorative armor
charged down over a hill. The humans began to slaughter both the Ork
and Mahirim, until no one was left standing, except the young boys
at the edge of the woods.
Scared, the two ran deeper into the woods for safety. Both unclear
of what had happened or why the humans would want to murder their
families. The young men decided they could only trust each other.
Berackus had trained in the arts of magic, where as Kaldiad had been
trained to hunt and kill with his hands. They worked together to learn
to survive the wilderness. They lived this way for nearly eight years,
until they had reached the age of twenty-two.
Upon his birthday, Kaldiad decided that the time of their vengeance
upon the humans had come. The two began to recruit and train young
Mahirim and Ork to start the army which would nearly wipe humans from
the face of Agon. They made their fortress on an island of the coast
of Mirendil, in the Mirror Sea. It was here they began the task of
creating the navy for their battle with the humans that plagued the
oceans of Agon. The wars and battles raged for over forty years, the
humans were pushed back to their home capital of Sanguine. Humans
began to swell there ranks with dwarves and Mirdain to fight the army
of Berackus and Kaldiad.
To their enemies, the army was often referred to as the "Black
Knights" because death seemed to often follow them. The Black
Knights were more of a brotherhood than a clan, always willing to
lay down their life for another brother. Kaldiad died a peaceful death
on the island that is now his namesake.
Berackus grew ill and died, but the army pushed forward to Agon
to finish the war with the humans once, and for all. While the Black
Knight army slaughtered the humans from one side of Agon to the other,
the Dwarves and Mirdain attacked the now defenseless city and burnt
it to the ground. Upon learning of the city's destruction, the army
returned to build the city now called Berackus upon the isle of Kaldiad.
Soon the time of the humans and their allies will come to an end,
and time of the Black Knight Brotherhood will be upon Agon like a
black horde plauge once again.
